So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Week #5 Results

Once again the viewing audience voted and the bottom six dancers were chosen from the results. The bottom six dancers “danced for their life” and the judges cut one guy and one girl. This established the Top 10 dancers. Starting next week only the voting audience will decide the fate of the dancers. The judges will only be on the show for giving their opinions, which we consider valuable in making a decision to vote.

Tonight the bottom three Guys were Ryan, Victor, and Nathan and the bottom 3 Gals were Karen, Ellenore, and Mollee.

The judges were unanimous on their decision tonight on the girls. The judges were NOT unanimous with the guy choice. The gal cut tonight was Karen and the guy was Victor. Nigel commented that if he had his way, Nathan would be the one going home tonight because he has not grown since the beginning of the season. (We agree with Nigel)

Too Karen and Victor we at AAN send our congratulations for making the Top 12 and even though the both of you are leaving tonight, “Let nothing stand in your way as you continue your journey to complete your dream.”

AAN Final comment:
After watching SYTYCD for the five previous seasons we think this Top 10 is by far and away the best ten dancers to reach this level of the competition. Each in themselves has something special to offer in their dancing, whether it’s technique or the simple fact that they are so far out of their specialty and conquering each weeks challenge. This is going to be one tough season to decide who to vote for and with that in mind, the dancers need to connect with the viewing audience through their dance. With the format change of the dancers partnering by random from next week on, the dancers will lose their comfort level of having the same partner each week. In our opinion this will be a deciding factor in deciding “America’s Favorite Dancer.”

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Week 4 Performance Top 14

One again tonight the viewing audience votes and the bottom three gals and three guys will dance for their lives on tomorrow nights results show. The judges will then cut one gal and one guy tomorrow night.

The judges tonight were Nigel, Mary, and Adam.

Here is my performance review for tonight’s show in the order performed:

1] Ashleigh and Jakob – Style Hip-Hop – Song “Whatcha say”
Nigel said, “Jakob every week you are challenged and you deliver. Ashleigh you are growing faster then anyone I have ever seen. Mary said, “Ashleigh you are a star tonight. Jakob you always hit it.” Adam said, “Jakob you will be in the Top 10 for sure. Ashleigh originally I did not believe you would make it, but tonight you made me a believer.” I have to agree with Adam, I have not been a big fan of Ashleigh, but tonight she made me a believer and I think it was her best performance ever. Great job! I have to agree with Nigel on Jakob, he will be a top 10 dancer this season.

2] Kevin and Karen – Style Broadway – Song “If my friends could see me now.”
Nigel said, “Karen I did not like your performance. Kevin I did not like yours either.” Mary said, “I agree with Nigel, neither one of you were in your characters and in Broadway that is a must.” Adam said, “Kevin I was amazed you even got through that routine you being a “hip-hoper. Karen you were okay.” I did not like the routine and thought it was a ho hum.

3] Russell and Noelle – Style Fox Trot – Song “Baby (You got what it takes)”
Nigel said, “Russell you have vastly improved in the last few weeks. You are still a star and incredible. Noelle You fight each week for yourself and you are doing it.” Mary said, “Russell that was excellent you made it look easy. Noelle you are gorgeous, elegant, I am proud of both of you.” Adam said, “That was a joyful performance and it was fantastic.” I though it was very good. They had chemistry and it was very entertaining.

4] Channing and Victor – Style Jazz – Song “Blackbird”
Nigel said, “Channing you looked like you were enjoying yourself and that made me enjoy myself. Victor you grew beyond belief before and now you seem to be slowing. You are a superb dancer.” Mary said, “Victor you are consistently good and now you need to go deeper. Channing you were strong and that was fun. Very good.” Adam said, “Channing you are finding your way in this show. Victor you are still great and need to grow.” I always like a Ty routine and this one was another good one. It was fun routine and the dancers did a good job making it entertaining.

5] Kathryn and Legacy – Style Paso Doble – Song “Pursuit”
Nigel said, “Legacy I always see you practicing and that passion will get you to the Top 10. Kathryn you matured this week and you brought it big time.” Mary said, “Legacy you were ‘crazy’ (In a good way) again. You were right on. Kathryn you were spot on tonight and both of you were perfect.” Adam said, “Legacy you have been growing since Vegas and are an inspiration. Kathryn you ‘killed it’ tonight that was perfect tonight.” I have to say that usually I don’t like this style at all but tonight these two had my attention from beginning to end. Both dancers were way out of their element / specialty and they nailed it. That was and awesome performance.

6] Ellenore and Ryan – Style Contemporary – Song “Your Ex-Lovers Dead”
Nigel said, “I think this was the best routine of the night. Ryan those were great lifts and I think you are the best ballroom dancer doing contemporary. Ellenore you become the character in every routine you do. You are a complete dancer and performer.” Mary said, “Ellenore you are a perfect blend of star quality. Ryan you have perfect timing and an inspiration to ballroom dancers everywhere.” Adam said, “You guys took my breath away with that routine. Thank you both, that was an honor to watch.” I really like the routine and the dancing. It was enjoyable to watch.

7] Mollee and Nathan – Style Pop / Jazz – Song “Bad Romance”
Nigel said, “it was far better than last week. Nathan you are one of the most talented dancers we have had on this show but you need to grow. Other dancers are passing you up. Mollee you have the talent to be great because you are so committed.” Mary said, “That was very good, but I did not get any chills.” Adam said, “You guys now know that this will not come very easy, but you guys worked hard this week. Good job.” I agree with Nigel when he said, “This was far batter than last week.” Anything would have been better than last week and this week was a “so-so”. I think the choreographer made them good this week.

AAN “Best of Night” performance – Legacy and Kathryn. Even though Nigel liked Ryan and Ellenor’s routine we think that the deciding factor is “growth”. We looked at what the dancers “specialty” is and we thought that the biggest stretch came from Legacy and Kathryn.

I have nothing further to add tonight except that The Dizzyfeet Foundation is having a special November 29th called “Celebration of Dance” to be held at The Kodak Theater. Tickets can be purchased on their web-site. Click here. This is a fund raiser for the foundation to donate to schools for children to enjoy the dance experience. Eight scholarships have already been granted and the eight dancers will be dancing at the coming show.

Tune in tomorrow night for the audience voting results show.

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 Week #3 Results

This is the first night the viewing audience voted and the bottom 6 are chosen from the results. The bottom 6 dancers will “dance for their life” and the judges will cut one guy and one girl. This will continue until the Top 10 dancers are established. Then only the voting audience will decide the fate of the dancers. The judges will only be on for giving their opinions.

The opening dance tonight was all the dancers dancing to “Warrior’s 2” I thought it was a very good job done by all.

The bottom three gals and guys were then revealed.

Bottom 3 Guys were Ryan, Peter, and Kevin. The bottom 3 Gals were Elenore, Pauline, and Karen.

In my opinion Kevin and Karen should NOT have been in the bottom group, it should have been Mollee and Nathan. Mollee and Nathan were terrible last night and frankly have not done all that good up to then. Kevin and Karen “killed” their routine last night. Come on America, it’s called dancing not popularity! (Sigh)

So the bottom six all danced for their lives and the Gal cut was Pauline and the Guy Peter.

Too Peter and Pauline we at “AAN” send our congratulations for making the Top 20 and even though the both of you are leaving tonight, “Let nothing stand in your way as you continue your journey to complete your dream.”

Next week will be the Top 14.

So You Think You Can Dance – “Vegas Week” First Three Days.

The show tonight was fast paced with many quick previews of the dancing. The format this year is for the contestants to dance various styles through each segment of each day. At the end of tonight show only 77 dancers were left to continue on too next weeks show and the final day count down to the top 20.

Tonight’s judges were Nigel, Mary, TY, Adam, Debbie, and Mia and they were busy.

Here are some of tonight’s highlights:

Nathan opened the show tonight. Interesting enough is that Nathan auditioned last year and “wowed” the judges, but he was only seventeen and could not go on to “Vegas”. Nigel was so impressed that he gave Nathan a ticket to “Vegas” for next year. Now the only question was is he still good enough to compete this year? The answer after he completed his routine this year is “YES”. I agree!

Jacob and Williem, the male couple danced and Jacob was cut from this year.

Teddy, the Travis Wall look-a-like initially made it through to the next level, but at the end of the night was cut. He did say he would continue to improve and be back next year.

Ryan, Evan’s brother, barely managed to get through the first round Hip-Hop and ended up being cut on day 3. Last year it was down to him and his brother completing for the 20th position of the Top 20. Evan was picked and made it to third place in season 5.

Day two found 90 dancers remaining. The first injury was Billy who took an elbow to the node and was not allowed to rehearse the “Cha-Cha” routine until his nose stopped bleeding. He missed all the practice session, but his partner helped his between sessions. When they danced with their group they all made it through to the next session.

There were two “Dance for your life” contestants tonight. They were John (Contemporary) and “Legacy” (B-Boy). John danced well, but the judges all said he did not have any emotion at all. Their decision was “NO”. “Legacy” did his specialty (Hip-Hop) and was awesome. All judges agreed that it was an awesome routine, but he was warned by Nigel that he needs to “step it up” on the other styles. The decision was “YES”.

My Highlight of tonight’s show was Russell and Iveta dancing as a couple to a “Cha-Cha” routine. Russell is the first “Crump” Style dancer to make it this far and was very nervous during practice for this routine. Iveta, however is a world champion ballroom dancer and did some pretty fine coaching of Russell. After they performed for the judge’s Nigel said, “Excellent!” Adam said, “That was unbelievable! Very Good!”. I agree and applaud their performance.

Final notes:
It looks like the bar has been raised this year and the dancers are really being pushed to their highest levels. I wish each and everyone the best of luck. To the dancers that were “cut” so far this year I say. “Let nothing stand in your way as you continue your journey to complete your dream”.

I have nothing else to report tonight except don’t forget the “Dizzy Feet Foundation” for kids. Click here for more information.

So You Think You Can Dance Part One of the Final Performance

Wow, what a night. The show was broadcast from the Kodak Theater and the stage was awesome. The crowd seemed really “in to” what tonight’s Part one of the two part final.

The Top four all danced with each other and did a solo. It was non stop dancing from start to finish. I enjoyed every minute.

A promotional video of the auditions for season 6 was run and the dancing looked awesome. I am now looking forward to next season.

Couple Routines:

Jeanine and Evan danced a Hip-Hop Routine:
I thought it was a great routine and the dancing was very good. Adam said, “Great routine and congratulated both dancers for making the top 4.” Mary said, “Good partnership and Jeanine stood out and Evan held his own.” Nigel said, “Both did a good job.”

Brandon and Kayla danced a Broadway routine:
I thought Kayla really stood out in this routine. Adam said, “That was so good, it was heaven.” Then he said to Kayla, “Is there nothing you can’t do?” Mary said, “Terrific, Rock Stars, you guys always “bring it”.” Nigel said, “Superb, well done, and it was greatly entertaining.”

Kayla and Evan danced a Jive routine:
I thought they did a great job. Adam said, “I didn’t like it, but Evan did some great lifts.” Mary said, “Great routine, but Evan was not strong enough in his dancing. Kayla stole the spotlight.” Nigel said, “Loved it! Both Evan and Kayla “brought it” and it was very good.”

Jeanine and Brandon danced a Paso Doble’ routine:
I thought it was well danced, but I did not like the music. Adam said, “The flow of the dance was great. They both did the little things very well and carried it on throughout the entire routine.” Mary said, “It was just right and the intensity was awesome.” Nigel said, “Powerful dancing.”

Solo Routines:

Brandon:
I thought it was a powerful performance. Adam said, “Great routine, you’re a super athlete.” Mary said, “I have goose bumps and that Brandon was born to dance.” Nigel said, “Last weeks solo was great and this weeks solo wiped the others out.”

Jeanine:
I thought this was Jeanine’s best solo of the entire season. Adam said, “Are you kidding? It was awesome and you killed it.” Mary said, “You are peaking tonight and it was a good routine.” Nigel said, “Brave solo. You are in the final two in my book.”

Evan:
I really liked it. I do enjoy watching him dance. I don’t know what it is, but there is something special. Adam said, “Your dance style is great.” Mary said, “You are unique and you have a “new” energy that you bring to this show.” Nigel said, “You do bring something special to the show.” Nigel also said, “That he did not think Evan grew as much as he expected over this season.”

Kayla:

I thought it was very good. Adam said, “The solo did not show what she can really do, but looking at this entire season, he put Kayla in a group of dancers that he thought was the best ever,” Mary said, “You are gifted and I loved the solo. Nigel said, “She is and always has been fantastic.”

Special pair routines:

Kayla and Jeanine did a Mia Michael’s routine:
I thought this routine was one of the best routines of this season and that includes the dancing. Adam said, “Both were great and it was beautifully danced.” Mary said, “You guys laid your heart and soul out on the stage. It was great.” Nigel said, “I wanted the routine to go longer because the dancing was so strong.”

Evan and Brandon did a pop-jazz routine:
I really like the dancing of both contestants, but it seems the judges had a different opinion. Adam said, “Evan’s natural sweetness got in the way of his dancing because the routine was supposed to bring out the “meanness”.” Mary said, “Evan was too sweet for the routine.” Nigel said, “Evan’s work ethic is beyond approach, but his “choochie” face was not nasty enough. Brandon out danced him.”
My opinion about both of these guys is that Brandon is a powerful dancer, but Evan has his own way about him. Evan seems to “own” each dance. He adds a little something special to whatever routine he is dancing. I find Evan to be far more entertaining when he is dancing.

Final comments:

I haven’t picked anyone that I thought should win up to this point, but now here is my “two cents”. Looking at the entire season, and reading all my notes on the judge’s comments and my comments I have to pick Kayla as the one that should win this season. She has “brought it” on every performance. I could not find one negative comment about anyone of the routines she has performed this entire season. Granted Brandon is a powerful dancer, but not someone I would pay to see dance. Jeanine I agree is peaking tonight, but I think she has further to grow. Evan is a very close second to Kayla, I must say there is something special with Evan’s dancing, but looking at the entire season, Kayla is in my opinion the winner of this season. The one comment that seems to be repeated buy the judges is, “Is there nothing you can’t do Kayla?” That says it all.

I don’t know about you all out there in cyber-space, but nothing is going to stop me from watching tomorrow nights final show.

So You Think You Can Dance Week #5 Results

Cut from the top 12 tonight was Phillip and Caitlin. The judges were unanimous on both selections. The judges told both dancers that they were great dancers and they based their decision on last night and all the previous week performances.

As I say to all the departing contestants, “To Phillip and Caitlin I send my congratulations for making the Top 12 and even though you are leaving tonight, “Let nothing stand in your way as you continue your journey to complete your dream”.

This now completes the top 10 that will be going on the SYTYCD Tour starting in September. Congratulations to all the top 10 contestants for following your dream and taking the action to complete it. Nigel also announced that Phillip and Caitlin will also be joining the top 10 on the tour, which was a surprise because in pasted seasons only the top 10 went on tour as the main attractions. Other dancers went on tour only as “swing” dancers, not main attractions.

I must say that when Phillip was asked how this competition has affected him he said among other things, “I hope I have inspired others to follow their dreams. I want them to know that you don’t need money and fancy studios, all you need are creativity and passion to complete your dreams.” (Not his exact words, but I got the message.)

Other notes about tonight’s show:

Nigel said that when they attempted to put together a show that would be a tribute to Michael Jackson they could not get a release of the music from Sony so there will be no tribute.
My editorial response to this is -- Outrageous! Disgusting! I am appalled! If you are a fan of one of the greatest entertainers that ever lived and agree with me on this absurdity of not releasing the music to SYTYCD for a tribute, what I am going to do is post a blog tomorrow with the subject “SYTYCD Tribute to Michael Jackson Rejected”. In the body of the post will be the above description about the music not being release. All comments on this post will be approved and posted for all to see (Please keep it G Rated). So call your friends, use “Google”, “Bing”, Firefox”, etc. to get information on he we can get this decision reversed and post it as a comment or just comment, the on what you think. Your opinions are valued here.

I have Nothing except for all you out there to remember the name “SONY”!. Grrrrrrrr...

So You Think You Can Dance Week #4 Results

Cut from the top 14 tonight was Vitolio and Karla. The judges were unanimous on both selections. They said Vitolio had a great stage presence, but did not deliver through his dance and that Karla was not growing as expected, even though she is a great dancer.

As I say to all the departing contestants, “To Vitolio and Karla I send my congratulations for making the Top 14 and even though you are leaving tonight, “Let nothing stand in your way as you continue your journey to complete your dream”.

A special comment about Jeanine’s solo:
The judges said it was brilliant and I agree 100%. On a scale of 1 to 10, I had it at a 12. The judges said, “It was the best solo of this season.”

A reminder of the awesome announcement made on yesterday’s show!

Nigel announced a new foundation named “The Dizzy Feet Foundation” is being formed to help under-privileged children. Many people from SYTYCD and many other top stars are involved in its creation. For more details on the foundations web-site: <Click Here>.

This is what’s it’s all about! Bringing a opportunity to children so they can follow their dreams to dance, create a way to enjoy the dance, and even better, allow them to follow the path to their true potential.

So You Think You Can Dance Week #3 Results

Cut from the top 16 tonight was Jonathon and Asuka. The judges were unanimous on Asuka, but spilt on Jonathon. I agree on Jonathon, I thought he did not “dance for his life”, and I had the other two guys even up. As far as the girls, I had to leave that up to the judges. The reason they gave for “cutting” Asuka is they did not feel she was growing as a dancer on the show.

As I say to all the departing contestants, “To Jonathon and Asuka I send my congratulations for making the Top 16 and even though you are leaving tonight, “Let nothing stand in your way as you continue your journey to complete your dream”.

Final Note:
As everyone probably knows by now that Michael Jackson passed away at the young age of fifty today. I have been a fan of his for forty plus years and as far as music goes Nigel said it best tonight, “He changed the world of music forever. Not just here in the U.S., the world.”

I agree 1,000%. When “Thriller” came out and I saw it, I knew this was the future and it did change everything about music. Not only song, but dance, video, production, and well you can go on and on. Nigel also said, “I hear contestants on this show and others stating that they were inspired by Michael Jackson to follow their dreams.” That in itself is awesome and his life should be a celebration. We will miss the likes of Michael Jackson yet celebrate his contribution to the world of music forever.

So You Think You Can Dance Week 3 Performance

This SYTYCD competition is getting really good. The quality of the dancing is rising each week and the dancers are being forced to grow and improved.

Best of the Night:

Evan and Randi danced a Mia Michael’s contemporary routine and “nailed it!” This was the most memorable routine of the night in my opinion. One thing about a Mia Michael’s routine is the dances must “nail it” or it’s straight to the bottom three. Last week Evan and Randi brought the “fun” and this week they brought the “Butt”.

Next Best of the Night:

Ade and Melissa danced Rumba. These two are looking like one of the best couples this year. Both dancers were totally out of their element and they did a great job. It was sexy, great timing, and they had chemistry.

Brandon and Janette danced Hip-Hop. Another couple out of their element and they pulled it off. One of the best hip-hop routines this year and this one surprised me because usually the hip-hop routines by dancers out of their “comfort zone” are “so-so”. Not this time, they both “brought it”.

Vitolio and Asuka danced Jazz. They had great chemistry and these two are improving every week. Last week they had a “special” routine and this one may have been a little less that “special”, but it was very good.

Jason and Caitlin danced the Paso Doble. This one really surprised me. It was a powerful routine and I actually liked it. The only thing lacking was they need a little more chemistry.

Worst routines of night:

Jonathon and Karla danced Hip-Hop. It was not very good at all. I think bottom 3 for these two tomorrow for sure.

Phillip and Jeanine danced Broadway. Phillip was not very good, but Jeanine “nailed it”. Phillip did manage to jump the couch but that was his highlight. When you dance Broadway you need to stay in “character” though out the entire dance and even though he started well, he did not carry it through. He did poorly last week and managed to stay another week, but like I said last week, popularity only goes so far on this show.

The third “worst” is a tough call this week. Kupono and Kayla are a new couple this week and I was wondering how they were going to do. They danced a Viennese Waltz this week and even though this is not a “pizzazz” type of routine where everyone would stand up and cheer, they danced it very well.

Nothing more to day except I am looking forward to tomorrow nights show.

So You Think You Can Dance Week #2 Results

Cut from the top 18 tonight was Max and Ashley. On both of these picks the judges said, “These are NOT unanimous choices.”

Based on the “dance for life” I also picked Ashley, but on the guys, I had Kupono and Max as even up.

Actually in my opinion Max should not have even been in the bottom three guys, it should have been Phillip. I think American got this wrong, but as Nigel said last night, Phillip is very popular. Popularity only goes so far on this show and based on the talent of the others, Phillip may make it one, maybe two more weeks, unless of course, he “nails” his routine next week. We shall see.

As I said late week to Tony and Paris I also say to Max and Ashley, “I send my congratulations for making the Top 18 and even though you are leaving tonight, “Let nothing stand in your way as you continue your journey to complete your dream”.

So You Think You Can Dance Week 2 Performance

Another “wow” week! With this being the second week some comparisons can be done. This week had more dancers out of their element, which is I think, “key” in this competition.

Nailed it two weeks in a row:

Ade and Melissa danced Jazz this week “nailed it”. My surprise was Melissa. Her specialty is ballet and you would never know it by the way she danced this week.

Brandon and Janette danced Disco and I think it was the best Disco routine ever danced on SYTYCD. Great energy, fast movement, and very well done.

Max and Kayla danced Pop-Jazz and once again “nailed” it. It was a strange routine, but they pulled it off with their dancing. Judges consider Kayla a front runner and I agree as I said last week.

Most improved since last week:

Vitolio and Asuka danced the Waltz and this was my “special” routine this week. It was touching, beautiful, and inspiring. Compared to last week they improved the most this week.

Jonathon and Karla danced contemporary compared to last week, “nailed it”. I don’t usually like Contemporary, but they held my attention throughout the routine. Jonathon looked like he has danced Contemporary all his life even though it was completely out of his specialty. Mary said the same thing. In fact Mary said, “I have never said this on this show. Jonathon you danced like contemporary is you’re specialty.”

So-so routine of the week:

Evan and Randi danced Jive and it was ho-hum for me and the judges liked Randi, but there was some criticism of the way Evan moved, but as a pair the judges liked it.

Worst routines of the week:

Jason and Caitlin danced Hip-Hop and for me it was “clunky”. There wasn’t any flow or as the judges put it, out of sync. Last week they danced “Bali wood” great, this week was a bust.

Kupono and Ashley danced Hip-Hip and I agree with Nigel, “It was under-whelming”. It looked like Kupono did not have any confidence even though Ashley danced it fairly well.

Phillip and Jeanine danced the Tango and it was bad. Philip’s technique was really “not good at all” and he danced without confidence. When he did a lift you could see the exertion in his face. Last week a world class Tango pair danced and did not change their expressions once during the entire dance routine. That is how the Tango is done. Granted Phillip was completely out of his element, but facial expressions should be easy to maintain.

For more information on the Top 18 <Click here>.

Nothing more to add until the "results" show tomorrow night.

So You Think You Can Dance Week 1 Performance

I have to start out by saying “Wow! This is by far an away the best 20 dancers of all the seasons so far.”

My favorite was the Contemporary routine danced by Melissa and Ade. It’s my favorite because the combination of music, the routine, and the dancing was touching and beautiful to watch. That was one special routine.

The best execution of a tough dance routine goes to the Samba danced by Kayla and Max. The execution was excellent, the energy was high, and the entertainment level was a “wow”.

The best execution by dancers completely out of their “specialty” goes to Caitlin and Jason doing the “Bali wood” routine. The energy was awesome, the dancing movements were perfect, and they basically “nailed it”.

The most memorable routine goes to Ashley and Kupono doing the Jazz routine (Crash test dummy). The routine was genius and the dancers “told a story” with their dancing.

It would be a chore to pick the best individual dancers the first performance week because not all of the dancers were out of their element in the routines tonight. I think this is what determines the “best” overall dancer. If I had to pick one, it would be Kayla and this is based on the judge’s comments and her performances from the audition week until now. Another one to watch would be Evan. His specialty is “Broadway” and his Contemporary performance was very good. Then there is Ashley, Kupono, Caitlyn, Jason, Brandon and Jeanette rounding out the other top picks.

It will be interesting to see who goes tomorrow night. One of my favorites is Tony, but tonight he was in his specialty “hip-Hop” and did not “bring it” like I thought he should. As far as which girl, I would guess Asuka, but this is because I thought the routine she had to dance tonight was not very good and did not show her real talent.

I have nothing further to add tonight and I am looking forward to tomorrow nights “result” show.

So You Think You Can Dance – Vegas

If you wanted an emotional roller coaster of a show you got what you wanted. When Natalie was “cut” in the beginning of the episode I was shocked. She was, I thought, one of the best. She was back from last year where she was the last one “cut” just before the top 20 and I though this was her year.

The “dancing for your life” provided some highlights. I though that when Gabi made it through she would go on to the top 20, but she was “cut” later on.

One of the best moments for me was Tony. He opened the show doing a creative dance routine using pictures of Simon and I though that was very good. Then when he had to “dance for his life” and made it I thought that moment pointed out what the show was about. You can follow a dream, but you also need to take the action to become the dream and commit to it with 110% of your energy. When Tony made past that point, I though that was one of the highest emotional points of tonight’s show. “Way to go Tony!”

The level of talent this year looks to be something very special. It looks to me like the judges are really scrutinizing everyone. One false step and you are history.

One thing I did notice tonight was the comments made by the contestants that were “cut”. When there said they were going to continue to improve and come back next year, I thought those were the people who really know themselves. They understood that they were not at their peak level to complete in this years competition and their not going to just give up. Then there were the ones that said, “I am not coming back. I was “cut” last year and now this year.” Well, now I understand this is an emotional moment and if they don’t come back it will show that the judges were correct because the level of commitment in not in that person.

I am really looking forward to tomorrow nights show to pick the top 20. I know I will be watching and cheering each one of the contestants on.

One thing for sure is if I was a judge it would have been a 10 hour show because I wanted all of the 100+ to make it. They would have had to change the name of the show to “So You Think You Can Dance -- The battle of the judges”.

I have nothing to add tonight and I am looking forward to tomorrow nights show to pick the top 20. I hope there will be a couple of “stand up and cheer” highlights to share here.

Susan Boyle Finale...

After I finished watching the finals on Britain’s Got Talent on “utube.com” and I determined that it must have been a tough decision on choosing who should win. It had to be a popularity contest because how do you compare a group of dancers to a solo singer? The group named “Diversity” won and based on what I saw, they must have generated more votes just based on the number of people in the group and the age spread probably generated more “younger” votes.

In my opinion Susan should have won based on talent and inspiration to live a dream. Simon said in an interview I watched, “I don’t think Susan has a clue as to how she has affected the world.” Piers Morgan said it best to Susan, “You came along when the world was in turmoil and looking for some inspiration and you gave the world that inspiration.” I agree 100% with that statement.

Even now when I watch that first video of Susan singing “I Dreamed a Dream” I get “goose bumps” just watching and listening. The first time I watched this video the count was 20 million, then the next time it was 36 million, and then yesterday I watched again and it was 65 million.

Have you watched this video? Just listen to the comments in the first two minutes of the video. Pay attention to the judgments being made by facial expressions and comments of both the audience and judges. Were you making any judgments? If you made that judgment then at the end of the video admitted that your first judgment was completely wrong and now you were going to stop “judging a book by its cover”, then that is how she has changed the “thinking” of the world. When someone changes another persons thinking by an action taken, that is what I call inspiring, actually I call that a miracle. Susan took the action by following her dream and appearing on “Britain’s Got Talent”, singing beautifully, and inspiring the audience.

I can think of nothing to add at this point except to wish Susan many blessing on her journey and since I did not see every episode ask, “How far did Stavor’s Flatley” get in the competition.
