The “dancing for your life” provided some highlights. I though that when Gabi made it through she would go on to the top 20, but she was “cut” later on.
One of the best moments for me was Tony. He opened the show doing a creative dance routine using pictures of Simon and I though that was very good. Then when he had to “dance for his life” and made it I thought that moment pointed out what the show was about. You can follow a dream, but you also need to take the action to become the dream and commit to it with 110% of your energy. When Tony made past that point, I though that was one of the highest emotional points of tonight’s show. “Way to go Tony!”
The level of talent this year looks to be something very special. It looks to me like the judges are really scrutinizing everyone. One false step and you are history.
One thing I did notice tonight was the comments made by the contestants that were “cut”. When there said they were going to continue to improve and come back next year, I thought those were the people who really know themselves. They understood that they were not at their peak level to complete in this years competition and their not going to just give up. Then there were the ones that said, “I am not coming back. I was “cut” last year and now this year.” Well, now I understand this is an emotional moment and if they don’t come back it will show that the judges were correct because the level of commitment in not in that person.
I am really looking forward to tomorrow nights show to pick the top 20. I know I will be watching and cheering each one of the contestants on.
One thing for sure is if I was a judge it would have been a 10 hour show because I wanted all of the 100+ to make it. They would have had to change the name of the show to “So You Think You Can Dance -- The battle of the judges”.
I have nothing to add tonight and I am looking forward to tomorrow nights show to pick the top 20. I hope there will be a couple of “stand up and cheer” highlights to share here.
