So You Think You Can Dance Week 1 Performance

I have to start out by saying “Wow! This is by far an away the best 20 dancers of all the seasons so far.”

My favorite was the Contemporary routine danced by Melissa and Ade. It’s my favorite because the combination of music, the routine, and the dancing was touching and beautiful to watch. That was one special routine.

The best execution of a tough dance routine goes to the Samba danced by Kayla and Max. The execution was excellent, the energy was high, and the entertainment level was a “wow”.

The best execution by dancers completely out of their “specialty” goes to Caitlin and Jason doing the “Bali wood” routine. The energy was awesome, the dancing movements were perfect, and they basically “nailed it”.

The most memorable routine goes to Ashley and Kupono doing the Jazz routine (Crash test dummy). The routine was genius and the dancers “told a story” with their dancing.

It would be a chore to pick the best individual dancers the first performance week because not all of the dancers were out of their element in the routines tonight. I think this is what determines the “best” overall dancer. If I had to pick one, it would be Kayla and this is based on the judge’s comments and her performances from the audition week until now. Another one to watch would be Evan. His specialty is “Broadway” and his Contemporary performance was very good. Then there is Ashley, Kupono, Caitlyn, Jason, Brandon and Jeanette rounding out the other top picks.

It will be interesting to see who goes tomorrow night. One of my favorites is Tony, but tonight he was in his specialty “hip-Hop” and did not “bring it” like I thought he should. As far as which girl, I would guess Asuka, but this is because I thought the routine she had to dance tonight was not very good and did not show her real talent.

I have nothing further to add tonight and I am looking forward to tomorrow nights “result” show.
