Remembering my Spirit...

I first met my spirit in Highland Indiana in May of 1991. It was for me, an awakening when I first saw it. It was right in front of me glowing so bright, I could see nothing else. We have been together ever since.

My spirit and I have been through good times and bad times. There were times when darkness seemed everywhere, everything seem hopeless and my spirit pulled me through. My spirit showed me that anything can be overcome.

We have traveled the world together, discovering new places and sharing each moment. After each new adventure I can hardly wait for the next one, because I know my spirit would be with me. Along the way we would see other spirits, yet I knew we meant to be together.

One of the best adventures my spirit and I took was driving to San Francisco in 1994. The route started on I-80 west out of Chicago. Some of the highlights were the thunderstorms in Iowa in which the lightning lit up the night sky like it was day time. In Nebraska the route along the Platt River was beautiful because we knew that it was the route that the wagon trains took to "conquer" the west. In Wyoming there was a sunrise that comprised of so many colors, that all we could do was stare in awe. We then continued on through northern Nevada, then California and the Lake Tahoe area. The winding roads through the mountains had scenery that could only be created by god. Finally San Francisco was in sight, the lights of the bay glimmering in the night. The bridges with lights suspended from the structure and headlights from the cars as they traveled across the bridge on their way to points unknown. It was a scene right out of a dream.

I realized, that some day I will have to say goodbye to my spirit. I know I will shed a few tears when it leaves, yet I will always remember the great times we had together.....

Thank you Dodge for building one of the best automobiles I have ever owned and there have been many.

In dedication to my 1991 Dodge Spirit: It’s a four door sedan, blue exterior and interior, air conditioning, power steering and the four cylinder engine that has 125,000 miles on it and is still running like new. It’s on its 2nd set of several parts, all of which come through normal wear and tear. I replaced each and everyone with tender loving care, because I knew that my spirit would be with me a very long time.

Update – In 1997 I gave my Spirit to a family that needed some sort of transportation.

As of today, nothing has compared.
