I saw an ad for Northern California water rationing on TV the other night and part of the ad was to “snitch on your neighbor”. I found this to be appalling! Come California, there is enough turmoil in the world and we don’t need anymore. “Snitch on your neighbor” is ridiculous. Granted we do need to ration water and I would guess 99.999 % of the folks here in Northern California do this everyday and are aware of the “drought” this summer of 2009. So now that California is broke we need to add more turmoil to our neighborhoods? Arnold, come on now, don’t you think you have gone a little too far?
Let me get this right. So you have a neighbor you really don’t like and have been waiting for just one excuse so you could complain about his/her conduct. Then one summer day it’s about 100 degrees and your neighbor puts a sprinkler out in the front yard for the children to play and cool off. Now you being the “water rationing king of the neighborhood” decide this is a violation and call 911 to report the violation. The 911 operator takes your complaint and tells you that they will send someone right to the location. You swear you hear a giggle just before the hang up, but you now take a position to observe the issuing of the water violation citation. Yada Yada….
So you think your neighbor isn’t going to know who reported the water violation. Everyone on the entire block is enjoying the sprinkler in your neighbor’s front yard and you are the only one not there. They see you peeping out the window.
Now you have another worry Mr. Water Rationing King. The next time you decide to wash your car in the driveway or water your lawn during the day, you should probably expect a visit from the Water Rationing Cops. Probably several visit’s because more than one neighbor is going to be “snitching”.
We don’t need this agitation in our neighborhoods. Water rationing is a great practice even without a draught. Let’s all just start thinking “Green” and clean up the entire environment.
I have nothing to add except “Think Green!”
