So You Think You Can Dance Fall Season 6 – Auditions New Orleans LA

This was the fifth show for Season 6, which this year is running through the Fall Season considered prime time. This is the first time ever for New Orleans Auditions.

Tonight’s judges were Adam, Mary and Ty Lil “C”. Nigel was gone because he was receiving an award back in England.

Contestants in order of performance: (Not all the contestants that were awarded a “trip to Vegas” performed on this show.)

1] Shelby - Introduced a new dance style named “New Orleans Bounce”.
Adam said, “You have good strength and drive. Great to watch.” Mary said, “Great energy, love it. Really good.” Lil “C” said, “Buck!” I really like the new style. Great moves and very entertaining.
The judge’s decision was a “YES”.

2] Jonathan
Adam said, “That was one of the best auditions I have ever seen. Wow!” Mary said, “Absolutly amazing.” Lil “C” said, “Perfect blend of energy.” I thought it was a “Wow!”. Great moves and dance rhythm.
The judge’s decision was a “YES”.

3] Alison (Quick dance preview)

5] Edward (Quick dance preview)

The judge’s decision was a “YES”.

6] Eric
Adam said, “It was fun, but no.” Mary said, “It was entertaining.” Lil “C” said, “I saw the passion and it was fun. I thought the dancing was weak, but it was an entertaining routine.
He was sent to choreograph and at the end of the night the judge’s decision was “NO”.

7] Justin
Adam said, “You rocked it, great solo!” Mary said, “You are strong with very good signature moves. Terrific!” Lil “C” said, “Impressive routine with great moves.” I thought it was a “Wow!” Great moves.
He was sent to choreograph and at the end of the night the judge’s decision was “YES”.

8] Kimalee (Danced with partner)
Adam said, “That was stunning and exciting.” Mary said, “That was fabulous and danced with passion.” Lil “C” said, “Graceful and great job.” I thought it was beautifully danced. Awesome moves and great lines. I think this was the “BEST” routine tonight.

9] Micah – Inspiring story
Adam said, “That was fresh and entertaining.” Mary said, “I like those moves.” Lil “C” said, “Great balance.” I liked the routine and dance moves.
He was sent to choreograph and at the end of the night the judge’s decision was “NO”. The judges added that they thought that if Micah continued growing and came back next year, he could go a long way.

At this point several “NO” dancers were shown and Mary decided there need to be some rules. She then introduced “Mary’s Dance Rules.” #1 Do not wear hat over eyes. #2 Do not do the never ending reach. #3 Do not do self worship. #4 Men -- no booty shaking.

10] Jakob
Adam said, “You rocked it with strength and strong moves.” Mary said, “Fantastic!” Lil “C” said, “Loved it.” I completely enjoyed this routine.

11] Diana This contestants grand-father was very ill when she came to the audition and pasted away yesterday. Her family pushed her to follow her dream and go to the auditions. She was keeping the family updated on her progress.
Adam said, “Your Grand-Father would be proud of you.” Mary said, “Very good, great moves and you made it look effortless.” I thought it was a beautiful routine, danced with passion.
She was sent to choreograph and at the end of the night the judge’s decision was “YES”. (YEAH!)

Tonight’s show notes:
Once again I liked the way the show was presented tonight. The embarrassing routines were held to just a few and the contestants sent to choreography were saved to last few minutes and then only the contestants that were going to Vegas were quickly shown. I think this made the show 100% more interesting than last years audition shows.

I have nothing else to report tonight except don’t forget the “Dizzy Feet Foundation” for kids. Click here for more information.

Next week is the auditions in Salt Lake City UT and after that “VEGAS Week starts”.
