Tiger Woods - AT&T National Golf Tournament

Once again congratulations to Tiger Woods on his win. It is always a joy to watch Tiger do his “magic” whether he is winning or losing. This tournament he was also the host and it was dedicated to all of our troops around the world and of course, our countries birthday.

“BETHESDA, Md. - The 2009 AT&T National and host Tiger Woods, will honor the Wounded Warriors on the first tee on Wednesday, July 1, to kick off the official start of the tournament with another exciting patriotic opening ceremony.

Continuing in the tradition of paying tribute to the U.S. Military, several Wounded Warriors will join Tiger Woods on the first tee at 11:00 a.m. as the 101st Airborne Division Parachute Demonstration Team prepares to descend upon Congressional Country Club to deliver golf balls for the ceremonial first shot. Spectators in attendance will get to hear an exciting play-by-play of the jump. Tournament host Tiger Woods will then welcome Wounded Warriors, Major Ken Dwyer and Staff Sergeant Ramon Padilla, to the first tee to hit the first shot with him, and officially kick off another AT&T National.”

Also included in this event was the Tiger Woods Foundation:

“AT&T* is the title sponsor of the golf tournament and has supported the Tiger Woods Foundation for the last six years.

About the Tiger Woods Foundation - Since its inception in 1996 by Tiger Woods and his father Earl, the Tiger Woods Foundation has reached an estimated 10 million young people through character development, career exploration, scholarships and grant making programs. Programs developed and supported by the Tiger Woods Foundation all share a similar mission of empowering young people to dream big and to set specific goals to achieve their dreams.

Specific programs of the Foundation include the Tiger Woods Learning Center, a youth-education facility and curriculum based in Anaheim, Calif., and Tiger’s Action Plan, a nationwide character development program based on Earl D. Woods’ book entitled Start Something. Tiger’s Action Plan is a free program for youth 8-17 that addresses three priorities: character education, volunteer service and career exploration. More information on the Tiger Woods Foundation and its programs can be found at
www.tigerwoodsfoundation.org. “

Some thing I noticed watching this weekend were the faces in the gallery watching Tiger. I noticed that all the children had big smiles and looked to be very happy to watch Tiger play golf. The adults seemed to be in the same state of mind.

I thought it was very cool of Hunter Mayhan to sign a golf ball that a little girl handed him and for Tiger to give the fellow in the wheelchair his winning golf ball after the match had ended.

Nothing is better than watching Tiger Woods do his “magic” on the golf course. To Tiger I say, “Thanks for demonstrating that if you are a dedicated person doing something you love, your dreams will come true in ways you can’t even imagine.”
